Norman Regional Health System
We're partnering with the @nrhfoundation and the @rfbo to pilot a #FoodPharmacy program that addresses food insecurity and malnourishment for our patients. We want to give a special thank you to Norman Regional Hospital Authority Board Trustee Doug Cubberley who asked the health system to explore the idea to help our patients and to the #ArvestFoundation who gave a $5,000 grant to assist in launching the Food Pharmacy!
This month is #SIDSAwarenessMonth and putting baby #safetosleep is one way of preventing SIDS. We understand the urge to want to cuddle your baby, but keeping your baby safe is as easy as the ABCs - Always place your baby Alone on their Back in their Crib for sleep. Make sure your baby's crib or bassinet has a firm, flat mattress covered by a fitted sheet and is free of all other bedding or soft items, including pillows, blankets or stuffed animals. Having the crib or bassinet in your room for the first six months to a year is recommended. #ABCsofsafesleep #InfantSafety #SafeSleep #SafeInfantSleep #backisbest
Other things to help prevent #SIDS are #breastfeeding and #skintoskin.
International Infection Prevention Week (#IIPW), October 18-24, celebrates the importance of infection prevention and our wonderful IPs! Spread the love to the IPs fighting back #COVID19. #WeLoveOurIPs
This month we recognize people who experience disabilities, a minority that may not be immediately visible.
Approximately 1 in 4 Americans have some form of #disability. Some people have physical #disabilities that are more visible while those with learning disabilities and cognitive disabilities often go unnoticed with their needs unmet. Those that have chronic pain, immune deficiencies and other physiological conditions may face difficulties in the workplace.
#NationalDisabilityEmploymentAwarenessMonth was declared in 1988 by the U.S. Congress for the month of October to raise awareness of the employment needs and contributions of individuals with all types of disabilities. In 1962 the word "physically" was removed to acknowledge the employment needs and contributions of individuals with all types of disabilities. Americans observe National Disability Employment Awareness Month by paying tribute to the accomplishments of the men and women with disabilities whose work helps keep the nation's economy strong and by reaffirming their commitment to ensure equal opportunity for all citizens.
Thank you to our hardworking emergency nurses during #ENweek! This year's theme is #HeartofGold which describes our nurses perfectly. If you'd like to thank an ER nurse, please leave a comment and we'll make sure they see it.
Happy #PerinatalNursesWeek to our wonderful Maternal Child nurses! You each deserve to be celebrated for your dedication to all of your patients and for the personalized care you show each of them. Thank you for all you do! #PNW2020
Happy #NationalPAWeek to all of our hard-working #PhysicianAssistants! It is especially important to thank our #PAs, and all PAs around the country, this #PAweek because of their continued hard work, determination, and dedication during the #COVID pandemic. We couldn't do what we do without them and we know that #PAsAreEssential! Thank you to each and every one of you!

This week is #NationalDiversityWeek! National Diversity Week was established in 1998 to raise awareness of the #diverse thoughts, opinions, and people that have shaped the U.S.
Norman Regional is celebrating National Diversity Week because we want all healers to embrace each other and our patients, despite differences - no matter race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, nationality, or disability. As an organization, we are encouraging our healers to use this week to reflect and learn about different perspectives and cultures. It is a week to vow #acceptance and #respect.
Join us to #celebratediversity and use this week to be the best we can be in loving and accepting each other!

#HispanicHeritageMonth is celebrated each year from September 15 through October 15 to recognize the achievements and contributions of Hispanic American champions who have inspired others to achieve success. It is an official celebration of American citizens whose ancestry can be traced back to Spain, Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. The celebration starts in the middle of the month because the 15th marks the #independencedays of five Latin America countries: Cost Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Mexico, Chile, and Belize celebrate their independence on the 16th, 18th, and 21st.
To celebrate Norman Regional EMSSTAT's 25 years of caring for the community of Norman, we're posting historical images every Thursday in September. It's #throwbackthursday! Here's a photo from the #90s of a paramedic and firefighter working at a drill. EMSSTAT is thankful to have longstanding trust and knowledge sharing with our partners in public safety. #tbt #ems
